Путь из Бюля в Хорн, как и вчера, проходил через горы Шварцвальда. Дорога извивалась как лента серпантина. Из окон автобуса был виден туман, походивший на облака. А когда он рассеивался, нашему взору открывался потрясающий вид: в долинах, напоминая игрушечные макеты, близко друг к другу жались маленькие домики с разноцвет­ными крышами. Иногда появлялась радуга и указывала нам путь. Переезд был долгий и, едва позавтракав, мы уже ехали на обед. После обеда, наконец-то, появилось время распределить подаренную в Бардовик-Доме обувь. Так получилось, что обувь досталась не каждому. Организаторы мероприятия не предполагали, что у многих детей размер ноги может не соответствовать возрасту. Мальчики были предупреждены о сложившейся ситуации, но, несмотря на это, нашлись обиженные и «обездоленные». Во время примерки многие, подобно одной из сестёр Золушки, пытались втиснуть 43 размер ноги в 34 и наоборот. Все удачные концерты похожи друг на друга, все неудачные — неудачны по-своему. Католическая церковь Марии Химмельфэрт в городке Айдлинген оказалась очень коварной. Расположив к себе на репетиции, усыпив в нас творческую бдительность, она подстроила ловушку на концерте. Наполненная слушателями до отказа, она резко изменила свои акустические способности. Уже после первого взятого аккорда было понятно, что за качество каждого произве­дения придётся бороться до последнего. Но когда в момент настройки хора на «Locus iste» Брукнера раз­дался вой полицейских сирен, не прекращающийся в течение пяти минут, все надежды на победу рухнули. Хор был полностью дестабилизирован. Интонация, строй, вокал, внимание — всё рассыпалось на глазах. Потребовались неверо­ят­ные усилия, чтобы сначала собрать внимание, затем выстроить ансамбль, выправить интонацию и, в итоге, постепенно, по принципу крещендо, с каждым новым произведением набирать силу и придти от почти полного поражения к безоговорочной победе.
